Sustainable Fishing Gear Platform
Survey Results, Interpretation, Guidelines, Basic Information, Paper
The Sustainable-Fishing-Gear-Platform is a resource designed to support policymakers, industry leaders, and the general public in planning economic capacity and optimizing recycling processes within the fishing sector.
Built on comprehensive surveys of fisheries and fishermen, the platform provides valuable insights into the quantities and material conditions of lost, abandoned, or discarded fishing nets, as well as the socio-economic and socio-cultural factors influencing these issues.
Survey Results
These are Surveys carried out during the project, targeting fishermen as well as the wider public:
Fishermen Survey 2023
Titel: | Date: XX.XX.2023 | Author |
In 2023, a socio-economic survey was carried out among fishers in Vietnam to explore patterns in net usage, fishing frequency, and related economic factors. The study investigated which types of fishing nets were commonly used, how often and how long fishers went out to sea, and the frequency of net replacement and repair. Respondents provided information on the average income generated through fishing activities, as well as the main reasons for net loss, including weather conditions and accidental damage. The survey also examined whether nets were made from synthetic materials like plastic or from natural fibers, offering insight into local practices and environmental impacts. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of small-scale fisheries in Vietnam and support strategies for improving livelihoods and resource sustainability. |
